Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence Funding (Needs Assessment)

The Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner is asking for organisations to submit their views on a new Ministry of Justice funding stream by 9am on Monday 1 March 2021.

The Ministry of Justice recently announced that it will be providing Police and Crime Commissioners (PCCs) with an opportunity for additional ring-fenced funding for sexual violence and domestic abuse support services:

There are two funding streams available to PCCs, which are dependent on local need. The first fund is for a period of 1 year from 1 April 2021, and is SV/DA specific (maximum additional funding available in 2021/22 for the Thames Valley is £375,403 for domestic abuse and £183,516 for sexual abuse). The second fund is for a period for two years - from 1 April 2021 until 31 March 2023 and is expected to attract expressions of interest for ISVA/IDVA support.

The fund is available to public bodies, third sector organisations and charitable and social enterprises which provide support services to help victims of domestic abuse and/or sexual violence in the Thames Valley cope with the impacts of crime, and, as far as possible, recover from the harm they have experienced. The purpose of this new funding is to increase advocacy support for victims and survivors of sexual violence and domestic abuse, including children.

While we expect this to focus predominantly on increasing the number of ISVAs and IDVAs across local areas, we are also interested in new innovative models of advocacy support. There is an emphasis towards providing tailored support for under-represented survivors and those with protected characteristics.

To enable us to consider the needs and demands in Thames Valley, please can you complete the below request for information document. A guidance document from the Ministry of Justice can also be found below, containing further information on the funding requirements. This information will be used to help guide and evaluate local need and funding.

* Please note - completing this request is not a guarantee of funding.
