An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Joint Independent Audit Committee.  Are you what we are looking for?

The Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) for Thames Valley and the Chief Constable of Thames Valley Police (TVP) are looking for citizens with relevant experience in the private, public or third sector who are politically neutral, to sit as independent members of the Joint Independent Audit Committee (JIAC).

Do you want to help scrutinise the way your policing finances operate? Could you offer a strong and independent voice on corporate governance? The Committee will review and scrutinise the affairs of both organisations, looking at issues such as risk management, internal control, change programmes and corporate governance as well as overseeing audit arrangements and reviewing financial statements.

Four members currently sit on the Committee but there is a vacancy for a further three.  The appointment will be for a four-year period terminating in 2027.

Candidates are required to be over the age of 18, and live or work in the Thames Valley area and be able to attend meetings at TVP Headquarters, Kidlington during the working day. The successful candidates will be subject to a police vetting check. Serving police officers or police staff are not eligible for this role.

The successful applicant will receive training and a daily allowance including expenses for travelling to TVP Headquarters. The current schedule is based on four to five meetings each year.

The closing date for applications is midnight on 31 May 2023.
