Background

The PCCs for Thames Valley, Surrey and Sussex worked together in a consortium to commission a 'non specialist' service for the three areas. This 'non-specialist' service includes both the Victim Assessment and Referral Centre (VARC) and the local support service.

 

What does the Local Support Service provide?

The VARC receive referrals directly from Thames Valley Police, victims and other agencies and assess the needs of the victim. If the victim does need additional support the VARC can then refer on to the Local Support Service or to more specialist services.

The Local Support Service will help any victim of crime that  requires additional help and are outisde of the referral criteria for support through our specialist services. This support can involve practical help, for example, assistance with completing forms, fixing broken windows or help through  the Criminal Justice System or more indepth emotional support where a volunteer can be with you to listen and give feedback.
