Victim Assessment and Referral Centre (VARC)
The PCCs for Thames Valley, Surrey and Sussex worked together in a consortium to commission a 'non specialist' service for the three areas. This 'non-specialist' service includes both the VARC and the local support service.
What does the VARC provide?
The VARC receives referrals from victims, police forces and other organisations and then makes contact with the victim and assesses their needs. The VARC can offer practical and emotional support or can refer those victims requiring further support to other agencies, volunteers in the Local Support Service and/ or other specialist services.
If you report a crime to Thames Valley Police your details are currently automatically passed to the VARC who will contact you to see if you require any support.
