Matthew Barber, Police & Crime Commissioner for Thames Valley, and Jason Hogg, Chief Constable for Thames Valley Police, open the second round of this year’s Community Fund

The Community Fund, jointly managed by the PCC and Chief Constable, helps to prevent crime and keep communities safe. Money for the scheme is created from the proceeds from the sale of items seized from criminals that cannot be returned to their rightful owners.

Following today’s announcement, Matthew said: “Alongside the Chief Constable, I am pleased to open applications for the second round of this year’s Community Fund.

“We have a total of £200,000 of grant funding available to community and voluntary groups, and I would urge groups who are supporting my Police and Crime Plan in reducing crime across our communities to apply.

“We have an active community across the Thames Valley, who play a significant role in tackling local issues around crime prevention and supporting vulnerable groups.

“Over the past 12 months, we have provided over £400,000 of funding through the Community Fund to 96 community groups who are working hard to support Thames Valley Police in protecting communities, supporting victims and reducing crime.

“We look forward to receiving applications which support a range of areas within my Police and Crime Plan, including those focused on tackling anti-social behaviour, providing support for domestic abuse victims and reducing vehicle crime.”

Community organisations across the Thames Valley can apply for a grant of up to £10,000 for projects that support one of the PCC’s Police and Crime Plan key priorities:

• Protecting Communities (including crime prevention and road safety)
• Protecting People (including abuse & exploitation and the night-time economy)
• Protecting Property (including cybercrime & fraud and retail crime)

Organisations are eligible to apply if they have not received funding through the Community Fund within the last 12 months. Further information on eligibility to apply can be found within the guidance documents on our website.

Jason Hogg, Chief Constable for Thames Valley Police, said: “The Community Fund provides an opportunity for organisations to apply for funding in support of projects that contribute to local policing priorities in Thames Valley.

“In the previous funding round, we awarded over £200,000 to organisations who are working to tackle issues such as early intervention support for young people, improving road safety and tackling anti-social behaviour.

“This latest round of funding will ensure that community and voluntary organisations can continue to run essential projects, which play an important role in preventing crime and protecting local communities.”

In February 2026, organisations received funding for a variety of projects including:

• Support for young people to build self-esteem and independence
• Music-led early intervention to prevent violence, exploitation and offending
• Purchase of vehicle activated speed signs to improve road safety
• Support and interventions for perpetrators and survivors of domestic abuse
• Purchase of CCTV to reduce anti-social behaviour in the community

The closing date for this round of applications is 12pm (noon) on Monday 28 September 2026 with applications jointly considered by the Police & Crime Commissioner and the Chief Constable.

Successful applicants will be invited to attend a presentation event, hosted by the PCC and Chief Constable, on Thursday 26 November in Milton Keynes.
