Matthew Barber, Police & Crime Commissioner for Thames Valley, reflects on today’s Forbury Gardens One Year Anniversary.

“People from across the Thames Valley will today be paying tribute to James Furlong, Joe Ritchie-Bennett and David Wallis, who died a year ago during the terrorist attack in Forbury Gardens. Our thoughts are with their family and friends on what will no doubt be a difficult day for them.

“Residents are being invited to attend a special virtual Memorial Service at 4pm today being held by Reading Borough Council on their Facebook Page which will be a way for us all to mark the anniversary whilst still following lockdown restrictions.

“Alongside Berkshire Healthcare, our Victims First service is also providing dedicated support to those affected directly, or indirectly, by this atrocious incident. We’re encouraging anyone who feels they need such support to visit the Forbury Gardens Service section of our Victims First website.”
